Bonjour et bienvenu sur ma page Verbling! Je m'appelle Raphaël, tuteur de français FLE à votre service! About myself: I was born outside Bordeaux in France and grew up near Versailles, outside Paris. I moved to the UK in London in 2005 after graduating from University of Versailles in English literature and civilization (License d'Anglais LLCE). I have been teaching French in London through several language agencies since 2006 such as BSL, London Speaks French or The Language Machine, to name but a few. Methodology: Lessons are adaptive and tailored to your level and your needs. But overall, here is a typical guide lesson plan: My classes are organised between: 1) rudimentary and basic spoken French (day-to-day conversational French at home, at work, socially, which includes vocabulary idioms, role plays, games), 2) written (Grammar, conjugaison) 3) Reading, pronunciation, video and text analyses (current affairs, culture, sports, science, literature, film and song lyric extracts). A bientôt!

Hi, My name is Chantal. I am a Secondary School French teacher, certified by the French National Board of Education. I have taught for 15 years in France and for 10 years in the US. My first realization of the important impact of languages occurred in 6th grade, during my first English class. At that time, it was something new in 6th grade! I was immediately fascinated by the fact that the same object had another name in another language. I loved English from that moment on. And then, in grades 8 and 9, I was lucky to have an extraordinary Spanish teacher (so much so that I am still in touch with her to this day!). She did not bring me only the beauty of the Spanish language: she took me out of my natural reserve and my timidity, understood and valued me, and made me, the shy little girl who did not dare open my mouth, the best student of the Spanish class during all my secondary schooling, and a student who dared speak my mind in all subjects. It was at this moment that I decided to devote myself to teaching languages: I understood then that the true role of a teacher is not only to pass knowledge, but also to create interest and enthusiasm, and above all build the personality of the students. Why languages? This is the most fabulous door on the world: opening it allows you to discover other universes, cultures, traditions, perspectives... This means becoming open, tolerant, accepting to understand - sometimes even changing one's own - points of view. At school, I helped this open-mindedness in different ways: organization of some field trips, but also creation of a French blog for the school. I have directed numerous researches, discussions, and debates within the framework of the IB program. These activities give the students an opportunity to act as leaders who create, develop, organize and direct their projects, they allow them to practice and develop organizational, management and leadership skills, as well as collaboration and teamwork. Everything that happens in our society fascinates me. I follow local, national, and international news closely, and I introduce it as often as possible in my courses in order to develop critical thinking skills in my students. It is an additional way to make them think, debate, compare their ideas, hear and understand other perspectives... and also to keep them informed other than through social media... Of course, I am passionate about French literature, in particular, that of the 19th and 20th centuries. I studied several works with my students: Le Gone du Chaâba (Azouz Begag - immigration and integration); Il était un Capitaine (Bertrand Solet - Dreyfus affair - anti-semitism); Ravage (René Barjavel - impact of technologies on societies); The stranger (Albert Camus - mental, emotional and social isolation); The Necklace (Guy de Maupassant - destructive aspect of the love of superficial things); Afloat (Guy de Maupassant - ambiguity and questions). These studies allowed me to carry out an in-depth reflection with the students, and to develop their critical thinking skills by tackling various, current, and universal themes. So, my idea of teaching and learning a language is not only to learn an accumulation of vocabulary, grammatical rules, and ready-made sentences (although they are very important too!): it allows us to open up to the world, to broaden our perspectives, reflect and debate on the events and concerns of our society. One of my greatest pleasures as a teacher is to see my students come to life around a topic, to reflect, discuss, draw conclusions… in French! What a great way to prepare them for the challenges of the world that awaits them. I lived in France (Paris; Fontainebleau), in Canada (Vancouver, BC - 3 years), I have now lived in the USA (Atlanta, GA) for 11 years. I have traveled to many European countries. Opening up to other cultures is the most wonderful trip, whether you do it physically or by studying the languages of the world. All these activities have made me a teacher who is very much invested in the success of my students by helping them to discover, consider different perspectives, and thus prepare well for their future life.

Hi everybody! Nice to meet you! French learning by practicing in an enthusiastic and interactive spirit with an experimented French mother tongue trainer. Because a language is closely connected with many other cultural dimensions (habits, history, songs, literature, way of thinking, etc.), I propose you to dive deeply into the French environment during the lesson: it makes the learning process easier, funnier and more useful in your French daily life. Successful methods guaranteed: my dedicated students make significant and quick progress. You won´t be at a loss with the words* and you´ll be soon involved in Voltaire´s language adventure! *switch to the French phrase: « Ne pas avoir sa langue dans sa poche » (literally: don´t keep one´s tongue in one´s pocket) <A language, a culture… and a method> As I like discovering foreign cultures and travelling, I speak English and German fluently, I understand Spanish and I´m currently learning Arabic and Hebrew. My knowledge in languages can facilitate the communication with my students. I've lived in several countries in Europe, mostly in Germany where I've worked. I'm interested in art, literature, history, social topics: I consider approaching a culture way of thinking enables us to improve our language capabilities more naturally and quicker. <A method approved by experience> I've studied humanities (literature, philosophy, history…) and didactic methods. Then I developed my pedagogical practice, as I taught a very large spectrum of students, from different origins and all levels: preparation of school exams for teenagers and children, alphabetization or conversation courses for adults. I've created an E-learning platform, full of didactic resources, also useful for official exams for immigration and nationalization (DELF, DALF, TFI, TCF, TEF Canada). <Your request, our goals. Learning with enthusiasm> My lessons are based on cultural aspects: songs and movies as teaching supports, anecdotes, true stories, debates. Thus, you learn with enthusiasm what you really need in your daily life, without noticing it. According to your needs and goals, you'll benefit from didactic tools of any type (audio, reading, grammatical theory, website for education). Individualized lessons preparation, exercises correction, study tips are included. Full involvement and dynamism are expected from the students.
