Hello, my name is Paul. I come from Ireland and I have 15 years of English teaching experience at all ages and levels. Most recently, I have taught English for academic purposes at Nottingham and Durham universities, mostly to Chinese students (though I have dealt with students from a variety of countries and backgrounds including Middle Eastern and European). I hold a BSc, a TEFL certificate, a PGCPSE in TESOL, and an MA in Education (Applied Linguistics).
My teaching style is relaxed and engaging, but also precise. I have a good command of English grammar and structure, and I like my students to be confident they can get an answer from me to any of their questions in these areas. Overall, I hope to build my students confidence by encouraging them to enjoy their learning and to see the benefit in it. So, motivation is key to my approach.
My hobbies are photography and writing (I have written several books of fiction), and I also help to run an online philosophy forum.
Thank you for reading my introduction. I hope to get the opportunity to know more about you too!
